Clients

NEC, Toyota, Honda, Nippon Steel, Fujitsu, Hitachi, YKK and more than 700 other Japanese and foreign organizations.

Main Locations Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Kitakyushu
Instructors

Over 250 mostly native-speaker instructors of English, but we also teach Chinese, Thai, Korean and a range of other European and Asian languages.

Job Satisfaction

Reflected in the time our staff stay with us: our current instructors have been with us an average of more than 3 years and quite a few for more than 10 years.
Scale of Operations Around 1000 classes per week nationwide.
Typical Course One 2-hour evening class per week for 20-30 weeks.
Class Location At client’s premises.

Class Size

Usually maximum of 8, but some private classes too.

Student Profile

Typically university graduates in their 20s or 30s, mostly male, who have studied text-book English at school for 6 years.
Teaching Load Fluctuates around 20 class-hours per week.
Visa / Housing Assistance available.
Initial Accommodation TCLC provides hotel accommodation for up to a week for new staff from overseas.

Remuneration

Annual salary of at least 3 million yen. Rates per class-hour and bonus applicability vary with the assignment.
Hiring period All year round peaking around April and September. Allow 3-6 months from initial inquiry to starting work - visa approvals may take considerable time.
Contracts One year, renewable by mutual agreement.
Initial Assignment

Determined by the Director when you present yourself to begin work. As far as possible preferences will be taken into account and we can usually tell people their most likely destinations before they leave for Japan, but as a company we must react quickly to market demands. TCLC also recognizes that only when an instructor has a comfortable lifestyle can they do a job that will bring themselves and TCLC credit.
